Hello! My Name Is . . .

Laura and Kat!

But what's your name??

I'm actually stealing this idea from Whitney at Slimming Down for the Gown because I loved the idea so much! Awhile ago, she asked her readers to comment and introduce themselves. She brought up the good point that for the most part, we don't know who reads our blog (except for those who comment).

So we're asking all of our readers to leave a quick comment, even if you've never done it before, and just tell us your name, where you're fun and one interesting thing about you.

I'll go first! My name is Laura and I live in Houston, TX with my boyfriend and our two dogs.

Something interesting about me: I hate blood, needles, guts, and all things related, which is ironic because I work in a hospital and Cody is a surgery resident, so he spends his days with all of the above.

And since I'm writing this post, I'll introduce my blogging buddy and partner-in-crime, Kat. She also lives in Houston with her hubby and two dogs (just as cute as mine, but much more well-behaved!).

Something intersting about Kat: her nickname is Chili Dog. I think I'm the only one that calls her that, but it still counts!

Your turn!

  2. Hi, my name is Sarah, and I work in a button factory.

OK. Not really. But that was a song we sang at Girl Scout camp when I was 10 and I thought I would share.

My name is Sarah, and I am a single gal who moved to Austin, Texas from Virginia this summer without a single plan, other than that I was going to live in this wonderful place and figure it out as I went. Now, I teach elementary school, blog about food, life, and my immense knowledge of random pop culture tidbits. :)

  3. Hi, my name is Shayne. I live in suburban Houston with my husband and two children. I lost 50 lbs. last year and am keeping it off, but I'm still a foodie. So when Kat told me about the blog, I instantly added it to my Google Reader!

  4. Glad you liked the idea!! My name is Whitney and I'm from Canada, but I'm currently living in Houston too! I love reading your blog because its gives me some great new meal ideas and its always fun to read blogs from the same city. I'm getting my masters in social work and I'm doing a medical internship at a local hospital...and I've definitely already seen my share of blood and guts :(

PS - A while back, you guys posted pics from a trip to the farmer's market. Could you tell me where that is, I've been looking for a good one in Houston.

  5. Hi! I'm Katherine and I live in Austin. I'm actually from Austin and have lived here most of my life. I have two dogs that I love more than anything, and I quit my job last month to start a business making and selling jewelry.

I love Houston and think about moving there someday! :)

  6. So glad to meet some of the people reading our blog!

As far as the farmer's market, it is on airline just south of 610. I think the font space is called Canino's? Produce. If you walk through there you will find some of the awesome bulk items!

By the way, check us out on Sunday! We will officially be rolling out the new blog!

  7. Hi! My name is Jen, and I live in Tyler TX. I have a 13 year old son, a golden retriever, and I recently got married last June, which my new husband's job got transferred to Ohio. We have a long distance marriage, which is hard, especially being newlyweds. I am a stay at home mom, so during the days while my son is at school, I cook and blog about it. I started my blog about 2 weeks ago, and I am completely addicted!! My freezer is getting stuffed... I am freezing all of the dishes for when my hubby comes home he can try them all.

I love your blog by the way! Great job!! :)

  8. Thanks for checking out the old blog! Have you been to the new site yet? All of these posts can be found on www.foodiesnotfatties.com.

I totally understand how hard the long distance marriage can be! My husband and I spent the first 2 years of our marriage in 2 different cities across Texas. We were so hapy to finally be in one city for an extended period of time. Cooking and blogging must be a great way to help the time pass while your son is at school! Send us a link to your new blog and we will check it out!

    Thanks for stopping by!
